Gift of food

Conway firefighters Mark McEntire (foreground), Jerry Stacks and Clint Hogan load into a fire engine boxes of food to be taken to families for Christmas. Firefighters, with funds raised in the Fill the Boot campaign, purchased food for 20 families and delivered it Thursday.

Names of needy families were collected from the couselor at Sallie Cone Elementary School. McEntire hopes to expand the project next year and get names from all the schools. This is the second year for the project made possible by Kroger Co., which gave a substantial discount on the foods purchased. A Conway citizen also brought in some food for the boxes.
