From the Woodrow column: Funds for the rural women's sewing rooms have been discounted indefinitely. I carried a list of names of 14 women who needed work. No work was available even though six of the women were widows, four had husbands who were unable to get work on the road and four had husbands not able to work. This class of people should be allowed to have sewing or some kind of work to do, because they would not ask help from the Red Cross if they were freezing. It doesn't seem fair that sewing rooms are still available to women in the larger cities. These women needed help and want to work.

The Faulkner County Courthouse was bedecked for the holiday season. Thanks to the efforts of the Faulkner County Extension Homemakers clubs, the Christmas tree on the first floor of the courthouse was decorated with a variety of homemade ornaments all of which were for sale. Among the ornaments were lace angels, star-shaped chickens, toy soldiers, birdhouses and elves. The ornaments ranged in price from 50 cents to $4. Proceeds of the ornament sale would support E.H. community service projects such as quilts given to victims of house fire, supplies for residents of the Conway Human Development Center and lap robes for nursing home patients.
