Eight people were transported by MEMS to Conway Regional Medical Center before dawn Saturday after an allegedly drunken driver ran a stop sign in his pickup truck and T-boned a sedan packed with college students.
Leroy Bullock, 51, of Oak Ridge, La., was allegedly arguing with 36-year-old front-seat passenger Solonia McClure of 530 Sturgis Road, who was urging him to slow down when the man accelerated south on Davis Street toward its intersection with Caldwell Street at about 12:30 a.m., striking a Toyota Camry carrying six young women, all 18 years old, west on Caldwell Street on their way to a fraternity party.
All six women were transported to Conway Regional, where five were treated and released. Bullock was treated and released to the custody of a Conway Police Department patrolman and arrested.
Bullock's passenger, McClure, was transported from Conway Regional to Baptist Medical Center, according to a Conway Regional spokesperson. A Baptist Medical Center spokesperson was unable to disclose any information concerning McClure's status.
Bullock was charged with first offense DWI, failure to heed a stop sign, no seat belt, disorderly conduct, obstruction of governmental operations and no insurance. He was held on a $1,710 bond.
