Hendrix drops pair in SCAC soccer contests
GREENCASTLE, Ind. Both Hendrix soccer teams fell to DePauw University in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action Friday.
The Hendrix women dropped a 2-1 decision, while the men lost 1-0.
Junior forward Michelle Story scored the Warriors' lone goal off an assist from junior forward Kate Burnett.
The Warriors fall to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in SCAC play, while the Tigers improve to 4-5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
DePauw scored each of its goals in the first half with the first coming in the 10th minute of play and second in the 31st.
Story put the ball past the keeper for the second time this year with 58:02 showing on the scoreboard. Burnett collected her first assist of the season.
The Tigers outshot the Warriors, 18-5.
Mike Harris made good on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute of action to lift DePauw to a 1-0 victory.
Hendrix was outshot 14-9 in the match, while first-year goalkeeper Adam Legg posted four saves. With the loss, the Warriors fall to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in SCAC play.
The Hendrix teams return to action today against Centre College (Danville, Ky.). The men's match is scheduled for noon, and the women's contest will follow at 2 p.m.
