Breast cancer program to take place Saturday at CRWC

Conway Interfaith Clinic and Conway Regional Breast Care are co-sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Conway Regional Women's Center.

Background information about mammograms, breast examinationsand cancer will be provided, as will information about a recent grant awarded to Conway Regional.

Linda Stafford, a breast cancer survivor, willtalk about breast self-examination and the need for frequent self-exams.

Misty Ferguson from Conway Regional Breast Care will give basic information about breast cancer and mammograms.

Jennifer Gunnels, volunteer coordinator at Conway Interfaith Clinic, said one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.An estimated 2,000 women in Arkansas will be diagnosed and 400 will die from breast cancer.

"The issue of breast cancer needs to be addressed and, as women, we need to fight back against the attack of this disease," Gunnels said. "Please come out and support us as we have a moment of sisterhood."

There will be door prizes, and refreshments will be served.
