Harlan Park Baptist Church will be hosting a marriage enrichment weekend for couples of all ages. Conference leader will be Larry Ray, teaching pastor of Evangel Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn.
Ray has a successful marriage counseling ministry, and is a popular conference and retreat speaker on the topics of marriage and parenting.
He graduated from Liberty University in Virginia and from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis. He also served as the minister of education, discipleship, and evangelism at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis for eight years.
Ray and his family also served in as missionaries with the International Mission Board in Belgium for four years as church planters.
Ray and his wife, Shari, have one daughter, Rainey, 21, who is now a fourth year student at Wheaton College in Chicago. Larry and Shari have been married 27 years. Shari teaches 12th grade AP English and Russian literature at St. Mary's School in Memphis. She is also a popular retreat and conference speaker and Bible teacher; but will be unable to attend the Conway weekend.
This event will take place Sept. 26 to 28 at the church, which is located at 1895 Dave Ward Drive.
The cost of the weekend is $20 and includes childcare with a meal provided for children on Friday and Saturday night.
Friday's session will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday's session will be from 4 to 9:30 p.m. and will include a date night for each couple to include the new "Fireproof" movie (www.fireproofthemovie.com). Ray will also speak on Sunday morning during Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and during the morning worship time at 10:50 a.m.
Advance registration for childcare is required by Sunday, Sept. 21. Sign up will take place at the church office Monday to Friday from 8:30 to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Couples are encouraged to pre-register, but registration will also be available at the door.
