FRISCO, Texas The Southland Conference and Fox College Sports have reached agreement for the sports network to televise the Southland Conference Television Network, league and network officials announced Wednesday.
The agreement will give the Southland Network the potential to be seen in close to 10 million digital cable households with a potential to reach more than 54 million digital cable subscribers through Fox College Sports' trio of regional sports networks: FCS Atlantic, FCS Central and FCS Pacific.
Fox College Sports will carry all nine football games, beginning Saturday with the Grambling State at Northwestern State game at 2 p.m., CDT. Fox College Sports has already started airing the league's monthly magazine show, "Inside the Southland Conference," which made its debut this month, and will also carry the championship games from the conference volleyball and baseball tournaments. The network and conference will review basketball possibilities in the coming weeks.
Additionally, six of the nine football games, including this weekend's Grambling State-Northwestern State debut, will appear on DirecTV channel 617, available to more than 2 million viewers who subscribe to the service's Sports Pack. Other DirecTV appearances include: Oct. 4, Texas Southern at Texas State, 5 p.m., CDT; Oct. 11, Sam Houston State at Central Arkansas, 6 p.m., CDT; Nov. 1, Stephen F. Austin at Sam Houston State, 2 p.m., CDT; Nov. 15, McNeese State at Northwestern State, 6 p.m., CST; and Nov. 22, Wildcard Game, Teams TBA, 6 p.m., CST.
