New Beginning Church

By Diane Robinson

What a big surprise for Pastor Bob, Friday night at our homemade ice cream social. He didn't know we were also having a surprise birthday party for him. Jeanette Martin had 60 balloons to hand to him and we all had fun watching him decide what to do. Janie Lindsey had made him a small cake and in the middle of the cake was a balloon filled with whipped cream. When he cut into the cake it, exploded and icing went all over, and the look on his face was priceless. We all had a terrific time and enjoyed the fun and fellowship we had. Brother and Sister Patrick were the winners for the best homemade ice cream and it was chocolate.

Pastor Bob preached two great message's Sunday, and it touched the hearts of many and the alters were not left empty. James 4:4 say's "Adulterers and adulteresses. Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."

This also includes anyone who lives for the world and what Saten offers and not for our Lord and Savior.

Prayers are going out for David and Shirley Garrett who are on a cruise and for some friends of Bro. and Sis. Majors who have come here to get away from the hurrican and was in an accident, Nancy McNew and many others. Let us all remember to pray for all who are involved in the hurricane.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

We thank the Lord for his gret and mighty work. The Sunday school topic for the junior class was Pray Always - James 5:13-18. The calss discussed that we are Christians should always pray in order to maintain a close relationship with our Lord. And we shuold always pray for one another. The music ministry blessed the services singing He has done Marvelous Things, Salvation and Glory and I am so Satisfied.

The morning message was delivered by evangelist Joyce Dugger. The topic was suffering for salvastion sake produces genuine faith 1 Peter1:1-7. Sister Duggar stated this letter was written to the Jews who were scattered, because at persecution. This letter was written to encourage the Jews as well as all the saints. She further stated God chose us before the foundation of the world to be his elect. All of the benefits of God is available to us because of the shed blood of Jesus. Once we are in God's hand we are secure eternally. Finally the purpose for our suffering - God is trying to get the junk out of our lives so we can be used of God. God wants to mold us into the image of Jesus. This was a powerful message

On Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. we will celebrate our annual Usher's Day. Pastor Paul Erby and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Atkins and Rev. andrew Robertson and Trinity Baptist Church at Morrilton will be our special guest. The public is invited to come.
