Guy

By Brenda Dowdy Holt

Please keep the family of Michael Jevicky in your prayers. He was involed in a motorcycle accident Last thursday and is in critical condition and also had surgery on his pelvis recently.

We truly appreciate all the sponsors, board members, employees and consumers who have contributed to this even" quotes from Jackie Fliss, executive director "And we are greatful to UCA for inviting us to share in their opening game festivities." Please come out and join the fun and support this orgainizatin.

Recently Audrey Dowdy was comng home from work and traveling home on Soda Valley Rd and rounded a curve and hit someone's cow. Fortunatley Audrey only had scratches and bruises but unfortunately totaled her car out and killed the cow. Unfortunately three to four cars passed her up on the road as she was struggling to get out of her car cause she was scared it was going to catch fire. I guess people just don't want to get involved. No one claimed the cow either. It is a shame that people have animals and then when they are not properly kept in their fenced area that the owners will not take responsibility for damage that they caused. Audrey is without a vehicle. We are glad she is not hurt but sad that she is without a vehicle and we willkeep her in our prayers.

Last Friday night Sandy Dowdy and I attended the ILS Profiles dance and she met her date, James Mccollum there and they had a great time. We were there first and when James came in he came running over to her cause they hadn't seen each other in two weeks cause he had gone to the Gulf Shores on vacation with his parents and he brought her back a dolphin snow mobile. They danced till the last dance.

Last Saturday, Alicia and Libby Holbrook, Sandy Dowdy and I went to the wedding of Darla and Kyle Jones' Son Derek and Stephanie in Harrison. It was a beautiful wedding with Derek decked out in his military navy dress uniform and the bride was beautiful. Kyle was best man and Robert Jones was groomsman. When you see Darla ask her when did she learn to do gymnastics. We all know she scored a ten. The Grooms mother made a beautiful fall. We love you Darla.

Gary Griffith came and spent the weekend with our Mom, Betty Griffith last weekend. The three of us went shopping at Clinton at Walmart on Saturday.

Please keep Till Thorn, Noreen Acre, Betty Griffith, Trish Thorn in your prayers.

The first week of school is over and as far as I know all of the kids have survived. They should have settled in by now with their schedules and be ready to really hit the books next week after they enjoy the Labor Day Weekend.

We went to Jacksonville last Monday to the Jr. High Football Scrimmage to watch Scott play. We rode with Danny and Charlotte Roberts and Robin Clark. They were there to support grandsons, Chase and Gavin Roberts. Bill fried some crappie and we took it to eat on the way. Bill Townsend and George and Kristi Roberts from the community were also there.

Tuesday morning Bill and I left to go to Branson to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We shopped in the afternoon and went to the Pierce Arrow show in the evening. Tuesday morning we left and drove over to Eureka Springs and walked around there for a little while. (The place was dead, no one on the street or in the shops.) I have never seen it that slow. We left there and drove on over to Fayetteville to visit with Chelsey and Jon and see their house. We had dinner at the Red Robin and had a great evening together. After spending the night we left early to drive home. Both Jon and Chelsey had early classes at the U of A. Chelsey was informed on Tuesday that she had been accepted back in the choral group "SCHOLA" that she was in when she previously attended the U of A.

Last Sunday afternoon a large crowd attended the 50th Wedding Anniversary Reception for Bill and Wilma Robinson at Pleasant Valley Church. Bill and Wilma were married on Aug. 31, 1958. They were honored by their children and grandchildren, Tony and Rhonda Robinson and family, and John and Kim Treece and family.

Mike, Susan and Scott Cavin went to Fayetteville last Saturday to help Chelsey and Jon do some odd jobs around their home.

Tomorrow afternoon Bill and I will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary with a reception in the Family Life Center of Bethlehem Baptist Church at 2 p.m. hosted by our family. I would love to have all of our friends and relatives drop by to visit with us. No gifts please.

The community sends our prayers and sympathy to the Dutch Rowlett family.

Services were well attended at Oakland Methodist Church last Sunday. Rosalind Harrington of Kansas City was a special guest. Rosalind is an accomplished pianist and she and our music director, Mary Powell, blessed us with some special music.

Rosalind's husband, Lynndel, was visiting with his mother, Mary Lois Harrington at Greenbrier, and his uncle Charles Castleberry. Castleberry passed away on Monday. Remember the family when you pray.

Ray and I with our daughter, Sherry Sellers visited our friends, Norene and Wondel Acre at Guy last Friday. Remember them when you pray.

We will have our quarterly birthday dinner at Oakland, tomorrow at noon, after services we will honor those with birthdays in July, August and September. We are expecting some special guests.

Don't forget the Hallelujah Harmony Quartet will be in concert, Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at Oakland Methodist Church. The public is invited. We are looking forward to having them in our church.

Jimmy Dalton asked me to report that his parents Gail and Barbara Glover were married 20 years on Aug. 26. Congratulations Gail and his ancestors are long time Holland residents.

Holland Baptist Church was blessed with another great day last Sunday with increased attendance and more visitors.

Bro. Ron Theis continued his series, from Romans 12 on "Believers and Daily Behavior." His dynamic message this week was titled "The Believer and our Relationship with other Believers."

Cheyenne Brewer, on the piano and Trey Schoulty, on the guitar, provided the special music. What a blessing they had. It's wonderful to see teenagers using their talents for the Lord. Those two did a great job at Holland Baptist.

Many activities are planned for the near future. There will be a men's retreat Sept. 12 and 13 at Camp Harriet. They plan to float the Buffalo River, ride four wheelers, eat some good food and enjoy the fellowship. The AWANA club will begin meeting again on Sept. 7. All boys and girls pre-k through 6th grade are invited to come be a part of scripture memorization games, teaching and fun with other children. Snacks will also be served.

Lucille Purifoy had a good week with visits from Marsha Brown and Kenneth and Wanda Ogle. Her granddaughter, Sheryl Pollack got to go home from the hospital and is now taking very strong treatments three days a week for leukemia. Contimue to pray for this family.

Rosalee and Robert McElroy camped last week at Woolley Hollow.

Have a good week and remember our mistakes and sins are many, but God's grace covers them all.
