A group of young people can be found weekly at the Faulkner County Library learning about money. They are part of a local program, "Kids Life and Money" organized by John Kelley, who is a certified financial planner.

Kelley said "Kids Life and Money" is a federal non-profit organization that provides financial literacy, mentorship and community leadership to children 12 and older. It is regulated under the Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).

The program focuses on teaching children how to make smart money choices and choose a career as well as how to lead a positive and productive life.

"Our curriculum will focus on goal setting, learning the financial planning process, budgeting, utilizing checking and savings accounts, investing, learning the importance of credit, decision-making skills, becoming a leader, understanding life and the importance of having good grades as well as after high school, then what," Kelley explains in a brochure about the program.

The class meets at 6 p.m. each Thursday at the Faulkner County Library. The public is welcome.

For more information, call Kelley at 514-5531 or the Faulkner County Library, 327-7482.
