The badly decomposed body of an unknown person was found on the grounds of
Conway's Cantrell Field municipal airport Tuesday night.
Neither the cause nor approximate time of death had been released at press time.
A Conway resident cutting high grass on a field near the western border of the airport discovered the partially-skeletonized remains of at about 6:25 p.m. and alerted authorities. Shortly after 7 p.m., Conway Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and Faulkner County Coroner's Office personnel began what Lt. Danny Moody of CPD said "may likely be a long investigation."
The field was last mowed in October 2007.
The identity of the body had not been released at press time, though a form of identification was found among the remains.

Moody said the deceased appeared to be an adult male wearing what seemed to be a T-shirt, tennis shoes and two pairs of boxer shorts. No pants or
shorts were immediately evident, though given the overall state of decomposition present in both the body and clothing Moody said he could not say
with assurance whether the deceased had been wearing them at the time of death.
The practice of wearing two pairs of boxer shorts is often associated with "sagging," a fashion trend in which pants are worn low on one's hips.
Moody added the deceased's remains had not been scattered and that the bones seemed to still be articulated. Moody was hesitant to speculate further
on the mostly skeletal remains other than to say that the deceased "appeared to have good dental features" and that the body had lain in the field
"for quite some time."
Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore said the remains will be taken to the State Crime Lab for further examination. Foul play is not suspected at
this time, Moody said.
