Conway Country Club's second Satterfield Member-Guest, set for this weekend, is almost full.

"By the end of the day, we will have 63, 64 teams," CCC pro Jon Poteet said Wednesday.

The long-time tournament was renamed last year to honor the late Bush Satterfield. Format is four-ball Saturday and scramble Sunday.

Poteet said teams to watch include Doug Weaver and Ron Robinson, who won the club's Harley O. Weatherly 4-ball in May; Bill Dunaway and Tom Head, past Harley champions; Tom Boone and Chris Houston; Pat Howell and Jay Myers; and Butch Phillips and Steve Allison.

"Somebody in there ought to win it," Poteet said. "The course is in good shape. Of course, everybody could use a break in the weather, but it looks like we'll get a break this weekend, which is very nice."

Holes in One: David Langley aced the 164-yard No. 2 this week, using a 9-iron. Jimmy Lockhard had a hole-in-one last week on the 144-yard No. 16, using an 8-iron.

CADRON VALLEY

Tim Gray said teams were coming in from "all over the place" for the club's two-man, one-woman scramble this weekend.

Gray, who will play with Kevin Marlin and Glenda Alexander, said the probable team to beat would be Shane and Adam Gray and Gini Ingram or Debbie and Billie Stewart and Jerry Huey.

Entry fee is $120 per team. Call the club at 327-0013 or Gray at 514-4190 for entry information.

CENTENNIAL VALLEY

With the Arkansas State Golf Association's designated circuit stopping at Centennial Valley this weekend, the course has been hopping.

Besides preparations for that event, the club is hosting a junior clinic for about 20 kids this week. About 15 seniors played in a club senior event Wednesday. Such tournaments are scheduled monthly. Entry fee is $10. Notice of the tournaments is in the club newsletter.

Stephanie Stephens and Mona Kincannon won the Ladies Golf Association Member-Guest last weekend. Centennial Valley pro Todd Lessert said about 30 women participated.

PERSIMMON RIDGE

Besides Saturday's James Hill Memorial, Persimmon Ridge has several events scheduled in the coming weeks.

Saturday's tournament, in memory of Hill, 16, a Persimmon Ridge employee who drowned earlier this summer, filled up within hours. The Greenbrier Panther Booster Club has scheduled a four-person scramble for Aug. 19. First Service Bank has scheduled a three-man scramble Aug. 26.

For entry information on either event, call the Persimmon Ridge Pro Shop at 679-5423.

General Manager Joe Ellzey said the heat has the staff monitoring the greens closely, but it hasn't seemed to deter play.

"Of course, it's busiest early in the mornings," he said Wednesday. "The parking lot was full this morning."

THE PLANTATION

The heat also doesn't seem to be affecting play much at The Plantation, pro Ron Barentine said.

"We're still pretty busy, really busy early," he said.
