CLINTON -- Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy who was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull dog.

Johnathan French was killed Tuesday when he and his older brother were attacked by two dogs at the neighbor's house, a spokesman for the Van Buren County sheriff's office said Wednesday.

His brother, Oliver French, 10, was bit and required a tetanus shot, the sheriff's office said. Theresa G. Bobst of Clinton owns the dog, the sheriff's office said.

The boys had played at the house in rural Van Buren County before, but no one was home when they went there Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Oliver French was able to get away and go for help. When he and his father, Jacky French, returned, the younger boy was dead.
