The next EcoFest planning meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the Faulkner County Library.
EcoFest is a festival promoting environmentally friendly practices and initiatives. The event is set for September, and many EcoFest activities and events are still in the planning stage. Community input is invited at the planning session.
"There will be a preview of the new Web site and some interactive examples of exciting, fun ways to present environmental topics," according to a news release prepared by EcoFest organizers. "It is approaching crunch time where more volunteers and donations are needed to help develop the ECOlibrium, an interactive environmental educational area that includes energy, green building, eco-friendly businesses and homes, natural resources, recycling/waste, organics, environmentally related health issues, literacy, transportation, a car show and even the EcoFest Grand Prix, in which electrically-powered cars made almost entirely of cardboard may compete."
Organizers are looking for a wide range of volunteers. Those with carpentry skills, artists, jugglers and magicians, educators, those with or without environmental knowledge and more are needed. Materials, including scrap wood to create some of the interactive exhibits and signage, are requested.
The Conway EcoFest is scheduled for Sept. 12 at Laurel Park. Those interested in learning more about the event or how they may contribute are encouraged to attend the Monday meeting or call Conway Sanitation Department special projects coordinator Debbie Plopper at 327-2105. More information will be on EcoFest's newly revamped Web site coming soon at www.ConwayEcoFest.com.
