The fourth and last period at Camp Quapaw of the Boy Scouts of America began at noon Sunday with 50 boys enrolled for the period. A court of honor was held, and merit badges were awarded to the following Conway boys: Fred Gordy Jr., pioneering; L.V. Biggs Jr., beginners button; Edward Mitchell, junior Red Cross life saving and Red Cross swimmer. Honor camper badges were awarded to Fred Gordy Jr., George Ligon, L.V. Biggs Jr., Edward Mitchell and Billy Cole.

Dr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Johnson would be in Lake Itasco, Minn., for the next few weeks. Dr. Johnson was to be connected with the University of Minnesota Biological Station. He and Mrs. Johnson both taught at Hendrix College.
The Conway Civitan Club met at Tommy's Restaurant. Attendance awards were presented to Harold Stocks, Alden Richards, Harold Johnson, Virgil White and John Mason. Dick Mason was initiated into the club as a new member. The Rev. Jim Beal was president of the club.

Peggy, Randy and Shane Hardy and Scotty Hensly, all of Damascus, and Irene Scroggins of Greenbrier attended the Sidney Moncrief and Co. vs. the Arkansas Wings basketball game at Little Rock Parkview High School. Moncrief's team included Lawson Pilgrim and Marvin Delph, both of Conway.
"Broaden Your Horizons" was the theme of the Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council meeting in Fayetteville. Faulkner residents attending were Gerri Johnson, Charlotte Lyke, Fayebelle Kelso, Red Wiley, Polly Tyler, Beth Wallace and Relda Washburn. More than 800 extension homemakers from across the state attended the event.

The First Community Bank Angels won the 12-and-under fast pitch competitive league championship in the Youth Soccer Association of Conway. Members were Eileen Hengel, Brooklyn Benton, Allison Crabb, Lauren Bell, Kristin Lybarger, Meredith Stanford, Megan Burgess, Whitney Garner, Heather Long, Hannah Bartrow and Courtney Mears. Coaches were Sharon Burgess, Steve Burgess and Eric Gamble.
Renee Lawrence would be joining 28 other young ladies from around the state to compete in the third annual Miss Teen Arkansas-America Pageant. She was a senior at Conway High School.
