Willie Ann McGinty

Willie Ann McGinty, 95, of Greenbrier, was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, to be with her Savior. She was born in Solgohachia on Dec. 24, 1913, to the late James and Mary Elen (Britton) Powell. Willie was a longtime member of the McGinty Town Church of God. She was a homemaker and retired housekeeper at Meadow Lake Nursing Home in Conway. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, crossword puzzles, reading and writing poetry. Willie was a woman of great faith and integrity, a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves a living legacy that includes nine children, 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

 

Willie was preceded in death by her parents, James (Papa) and Mary Elen (Momma) Powell; four brothers, Arthur, Irvin, Johnny and Raymond Powell; one sister, Nora (Powell) Risner; a loving husband of over 50 years, Cecil Doyle McGinty; one granddaughter, Veronica (Mcginty) Grage; one grandson, Mitchell Wickliffe; one great-granddaughter, Hope Gabrielle Nolley; one great-grandson, Casey Wilson; and one son-in-law, Lee Rickett.

Willie is survived by five sons, Dalton (Martha) and Landel (Glenda) McGinty, both of North Little Rock, Danny (Betty) and Arnold (JoAnn) McGinty, both of Greenbrier, and Darrell (Anita) McGinty of Guy; five daughters, Mary Rickett of Jacksonville, Geanie (Ray) Wickliffe of North Little Rock, Reda (Bud) Childers of Cabot and Diane (Ted) Frizzell of Greenbrier. She is also survived by one brother, Cecil (Jewell) Powell of Benton; four sisters, Esther Byrd of McRay, Arteen Merritt of Bigelow, Josie McGinty and Vurnice Hardy, both of Greenbrier; one sister-in-law, Hazel Powell of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Family visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Church of God in McGinty Town, with Brother New officiating. Burial will be at McGinty Town cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Doyle Wayne, Marty, Chad, Aaron and Allen McGinty and Darrell Childers.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at the Greenbrier Nursing Home and for prayers and warm thoughts during this time. They are left with heavy hearts and loving memories and are looking forward to a glorious reunion someday with Willie.
