Chiefs of the Pine Valley and Vilonia fire department have been honored by the Arkansas Association of Fire Chiefs and Arkansas Fire Academy, respectively.

Pine Valley Fire Chief Larry Brewer received the Sewell Award for his work in organizing tributes to local fallen firefighters and his two years working to further the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

 

Vilonia Fire Department Chief, Keith Hillman, was awarded the Arkansas Fire Academys Outstanding Adjunct Instructor and Pine Village Volunteer Fire Department Chief and Deputy Director with the Faulkner County of Emergency Management, Larry Brewer, was given the Arkansas Association of Fire Chiefs Sewell Award. He received the award at the joint convention of the Arkansas State Firefighters Association and the Arkansas Association of Fire Chiefs, held in Hot Springs on June 26-28.

Brewer was instrumental in having the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters Memorial sculpture displayed in Conway during this year's Toad Suck Daze. He has been a fireman for over 37 years, and also serves as the Faulkner County Office of Emergency Management deputy coordinator and as the county's fire coordinator.

Vilonia Fire Cheif Keith Hillman received the Outstanding Adjunct Instructor award after being nominated for the award by Arkansas Fire Academy director Rachel Nix and assistant director James Rubow in recognition of his work there.
