The University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees approved a payment of $300,000 in private funds to UCA President Lu Hardin during its regular May board meeting as an incentive for him to stay on board with the university, according to the state newspaper.
The group approved a plan three years ago that would set aside $60,000 a year for five years if Hardin remained in his position as president, but the trustees made the decision in May to pay for all five years at once, according to the article.
Hardin and members of the Board of Trustees could not be reached by press time Tuesday.
