Finis J. Ingram, 79, of Clinton, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 30, 2009. He was born Jan. 7, 1930, at Woolum, the beloved son of the late Lemual Alvin and Bula Orr Ingram.

Lifelong Van Buren County resident and owner of Ingram Tire Service of Clinton.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Chance Ingram; father of Annetta Rose Carrigan and husband Patrick of East Peoria, Ill.; Rosetta Ann Rutz-Shinn of Springfield, Ill.; Virginia Gail (Gini) Ingram of Conway; Beverly Ann Beem and husband Richard and their children, Parker and Cameron of Clinton; brother to Viola Dunn and husband James of Kansas, Lonnie Ingram and wife Joneta of Kansas City, Kan., Frank Ingram and wife Doris of Scotland; grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather to seven. He had a host of nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his youngest daughter, Melissa Kay Ingram.

Finis wore many hats in his long and productive life. First was his deep faith. He believed, "If you could see it, think it, you can do it" he loved learning. He was a logger, builder and engineer for Caterpiller Inc., private pilot, skating rink builder and owner, rock mason, gardener, musician and had the honor of being appointed the last justice of the peace of Van Buren County that could preside over court cases, and he performed marriages in some very unique locations.

He never met a stranger, only new friends, and he inspired, guided and assisted untold numbers. He was a member of the Archey Fork Car Club, Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Clinton Main Street, Arkansas Tire Dealers Association, Patterson Lodge # 111, Eastern Star, Lions Club, Lead and was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Clinton.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Friendship Baptist Church Clinton. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery Scotland.

In lieu of flowers family asks that those who would like to can give to the charity of their choice.
