Ray L. "Monty" Ellis, 43, of Enola, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at his home. He was born March 28, 1966, to Travis and Sharon Mae (Cranford) Ellis. Monty was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse Ellis; his grandparents, Travis and Raebelle Ellis and Martha Clark.
Monty was a master auto glass installer and owned and operated Double M Auto Glass. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church; and served as alderman on the Enola City Council.
He enjoyed playing with his children and nephews and nieces; and loved spending time with his girls on the softball field. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, and spending time at the cabin. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality.
Survivors are his wife, Malissa Kaye Ellis; children, Josh, Ashlynn, Alaina and Alyse Ellis; his parents, Travis and Sharon Ellis of Conway; his sisters, Sheryl Ellis-Oaks of Conway and Sheila Ivy and husband Bo of Russellville; his brother, Morgan Ellis and wife, Amy; his grandfather, Roy G. Cranford of Enola; his father and mother-in-law, Tom and Linda Mathis; his brother-in-law, Bryon Mathis and wife Karan, all of Vilonia; a number of nephews, nieces and one great-niece.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, with Bros. Ken Jordan and Jake McCandless officiating. Burial will follow in Marcus Hill Cemetery, with Bill Brazier, Chris Carr, Chris Farris, Mike Cook, Bryon Mathis and David Fulmer serving as pallbearers. Josh Ellis and Cody Shumate will be honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be tonight at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests memorials be made to the Monty Ellis Children's Fund, c/o Centennial Bank.
