Jerry Dean Tucker

Jerry Dean Tucker, 75, of Conway, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born April 11, 1934, in Heber Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Eloise Tucker; and his first wife of 43 years, Wanda Brinkley Tucker.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of seven years, Mary K. Tucker of the home; three children, a son, Bruce Tucker of Russellville and his wife Rhonda; daughter, Sandra Wasicek of Wooster and her husband Jim; daughter, Marlene Hazel of Conway; six grandchildren, Vann Tucker, Beth Tucker (John Mark) Spicer, Blake Bowman, Scott Bowman, Lana Hazel and Jeffrey Hazel; a great-grandchild, Carter Bowman; step-grandchildren, Rachel, Saul, Nathan, Jessica, Megan, Charlotte, Tracey, Robert, Heather, Holly, Ashley and Andrea; stepchildren, Carol Ann (Bill) Torrey, Jon (Carol) Moore, Jimmy (Diane) Moore and Billy Moore that will miss him.

Jerry was a kind and generous person, devoted to his wife and family. He was a founding member of Grace United Methodist Church in Conway, member of Grace United Methodist Men, a veteran of the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Jackson, S.C., and a graduate of University of Central Arkansas. He taught school for one year at Wilburn and then was hired by Arkansas Power and Light company (Entergy), where he had a successful career spanning 31 years. His hobbies and activities included hunting, longtime member of the Shaw Deer Camp from Quitman, fishing, camping, dancing and attending ball games and events that involved his grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Moore, Billy Moore, Jon Moore, Bill Torrey, Tom Shaw and Richard Ruble.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral home, 801 8th Avenue, Conway. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the medical staff of Conway Regional Medical Center, and to staff and friends of Grace United Methodist Church for the loving care given to Jerry.
