Ezell-Davis

On June 6, Miss Brittany Amelia Ezell and Mr. William Phillip Davis were united in holy matrimony. The Rev. David Hatfield presided over the 7 p.m. ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in Conway.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ezell of Conway and Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Davis of Junction City are the parents of the groom.

 

The bride's maternal grandparents are Mrs. John P. McConnell of Conway and the late Mr. McConnell. Mrs. C.A. Ezell of Perryville and the late Mr. Ezell are paternal grandparents. The groom's maternal grandparents are Mrs. William Edward Mullally, of Elaine and the late Mr. Mullally and the late Mr. and Mrs. Malvin Chandler of Warren. Paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. William Davis of Lexa.

The sanctuary featured four aged decorative pedestals topped with dramatic arrangements of white calla lilies, snap dragons, Aquita roses, High and Peace Roses, Oriental lilies, Italian ruscus, gladiolas, Spider mums and green lemon leaf. The center aisle was marked with a white runner which featured a black border and a large monogrammed "D" in it's center. Alternating globed candelabras draped with smilax marked the pews.

On top of the bride's table was an aged iron candelabrum featuring ivory pillar candles. Honorary bridesmaids presided at the bride's book and also provided guests with programs.

Organist Lyle Rupert of Conway provided prelude music of classical selections. At 7 o'clock, pianist and vocalist Donna Gober of Conway and Leslie Word brother of the groom, from El Dorado, joined to sing "How Great is our God." The grandmothers were seated during this vocal presentation. Beckye Ezell, mother of the bride, was escorted in by her son Landon Ezell. Phyllis Davis, mother of the groom, was seated by Phillip Davis. Both mothers lit a unity candle representing each family. Mrs. Gober also presented in Christ Alone prior to procession of the bridal party. Other vocal selections presented were the "Blessing Song" and "How Beautiful." Miss Ezell and her father entered the sanctuary to the" Bridal Chorus" by Richard Wagner. The recessional was "The Wedding March" by Mendelssohn. Bathed in candlelight, the bride and her father proceeded down the central aisle. The bridal gown was an ivory strapless design of Godavari silk with a soft sweetheart neck line enhanced with Alencon lace and accented with pearls, sequins, Swarovski crystals and bugle beads. Her fitted ruched bodice was accented with beaded Alencon lace. The double tiered Godavari silk skirt was gathered at the side with beaded Alecon Lace appliqus cascading onto the skirt. Self-covered buttons attached an elegant chapel length train. A cathedral veil of illusion was attached to her upswept her and completed her wedding ensemble. She wore crystal and pearl drop earrings and a double strand pearl bracelet which was a gift of the groom.

The bride carried an elegant bouquet of wrapped ivory calla lilies with beading adorning the stems. She also carried a lace handkerchief that was given to her by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John McConnell on the day she was born. A sixpence brought to the bride from London, England was placed in her shoe for good luck. The bridesmaids entered in black tissue taffeta tea length dresses with ruched empire bodices, pleated shoulder straps and soft gathers and pleated accenting the tube designs.

Each bridesmaid carried a different white flower bouquet. Their jewelry included black pearl necklaces and matching earrings which were presented to them by the bride. Maids of honor were Brittney Speights of Benton and Jessica Stuetelberg of Denver, Colo. Bridesmaids were Rachel Copley of Monticello, Megan Swann, Lauren McConnell, and Laine McConnell cousins of the bride of Conway. Lacey Harris of New York City, Kaci Capps of Little Rock, and Mary Catherine Lewis of Knoxville Tenn. Junior Bridesmaids were Brett McConnell, cousin of the bride, of Rogers and Summar Roachell of Conway.

Flower girls were Reese and Riley Owens, nieces of the bride, of Little Rock. They walked with ring bearer Christian Word, nephew of the groom, of El Dorado.

Joey Davis, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Landon Ezell, Taylor Womack and William Harper of Fayetteville, Carey Antoon, Matt Reibe, and Charlie Van Ness of Little Rock, Craig Tommey of Chicago, Ill. and Justin Hamacker of Dallas Texas. The groom and his attendants were attired in traditional black tuxedos.

The ushers were Chris Hollingsworth of Cabot and Jordan Smith of Fayetteville. Honorary bridesmaids were sorority sisters of the bride at the University of Arkansas. They included Holly Wilson, Rebecca Fergus, Erin Telfer, Amanda Fawcett and Melissa Dickinson of Fayetteville, Lauren Reynolds and Lauren Thompson of Little Rock and Emili Jack of Santa Cruz, Calif. They wore black dresses, white pearl necklaces, and double strand pearl bracelets which were presented to them by the bride.

Beckye Ezell, mother of the bride, chose an espresso ensemble. The laser cut layers of shimmering hammered satin overlapped to form the skirt of a stunning double v-neck dress. The groom's mother was gowned in a two piece ensemble with finger tip jacket and a floor length silhouette of deep royal blue. The mothers carried elegant bouquets of ivory calla lilies wrapped in French sheer ribbon.

The reception immediately followed at the Conway Country Club. Tables were covered with black floor-length cloths overlaid with an elegant white damask cloth. Chairs were covered in white and tied with a black organza bow. Each table in the dining room featured a tall glass vase with Bells of Ireland and white Gladiolas submerged in water. Vases were topped with a magnificent arrangement of the brides chosen flowers. Pub tables and patio tables were draped with a beautiful black and white cloth topped with smaller floral arrangements.

The fireplace room held the buffet table appointed with two extravagant vases featuring large floral arrangements of white flowers and greenery.

The six-tiered wedding cake was a contemporary design featuring sugar veil flowers with a rope dcor adorning the sides of the cake. The top of the cake held a black iron "D". Each layer consisted of a different flavor including Italian Creme, Apricot, Strawberry, and Vanilla. The groom's cake was a two tiered chocolate with fudge and chocolate butter cream filling. Chocolate dipped cherries garnished the cake. The grooms table also included an iron razorback with white flowers and a red and white picture frame featuring the couple at a razorback game. College friends of the couple sang the Razorback Fight Song and called the Hogs during the reception. The entertainment for the evening was provided by 24/7 of Nashville, Tenn.

The bride and groom left the Country Club through a line of guests holding gigantic sparklers and drove a 1929 Model A belonging to the brides grandfather, C.A. Ezell. The attendants placed a Just Married sign on the back of the Model A and tied coke cans to the bumper. After a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Little Rock.

The bride was entertained at several pre-nuptial parties.

An announcement shower was held at the home of Sharon Clark. Co-hostesses included Renee West, Gena Carter, Nancy White, Lucinda Waller, Fran Bailey, Pauletta Benton, Kay Clanton, Patti Howse, Joan Molder, Debi Avra, Mimi Ghormley, Katrina Wilcox, Janie Carpenter, Lisa Roachell, Herky Sullins, Carol Hess, Martha Bumpers, Cindy Ussery and Adele Pruett.

An announcement cocktail party was held in Fayetteville by the brides sorority sisters. Hostesses included Kaci Capps, Melissa Dickinson, Amanda Fawcett, Rebecca Fergus, Mary Catherine Lewis, Lauren Reynolds, Erin Telfer, Lauren Thompson, and Holly Wilson.

On March 14, a Honey Do Shower was held in El Dorado at the home of Terry Clark. This party was given by long time friends of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Presley, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tommey, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Reibe, Fern Smith and Terry Clark.

On April 18, a recipe shower and brunch were given at the home of Mrs. N.E. Goode. Co-hostesses were Susan Moore and Christie Oliver.

May 2 was a poolside party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Bussey. This party was co-hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Anthes, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bell, Minette Densmore, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Whitehouse, Mr. and Mrs. David Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Scotty Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Cuthbertson, Mary Helen Goodwin, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Schwartz and Chris Throneberry.

A shower was held May 16 at the home of Robin Cheek in Little Rock. Co-hostesses were the 5E staff at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

A bridesmaid luncheon was given June 5 at the home of Laurie Smith. Co-hostesses were Peggy Clark, Melanie Conner, Pam Curry, Cheryl Daniels, Brandi Jones, Jan Jordan, Andrea McConnell, Tami McConnell and Teresa McConnell.

A wedding day brunch was held on the morning of the wedding at the home of Mrs. John McConnell, the bride's grandmother. Co-hostesses for this event were Mrs. Bob Benafield and Mrs. Dennis Fulmer.

The evening prior to the wedding the grooms parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Conway Country Club. The highlight of the evening was a video production featuring pictures of the bride and groom from childhood to the present. The video was produced by Courtney Clark North, a very close friend of the bride.
