Conway TOPS celebrates success

After a year of smarter eating and extreme exercise, TOPS AR 402, Conway celebrated the success of John Teague.

Teague joined the Tops chapter in January 2008 and began his journey of weight loss. In December, he reached his goal weight of 180 pounds, losing 114 pounds over the year.

He was crowned king of his chapter at the annual installation of officers dinner held in March. He also received a trophy for being a division winner. Also, division winners, Kelly Montgomery and Margaret Huber were honored with trophies presented by Beulah Birdsong, chapter leaders.

Marcia Dohn, state coordinator, attended the dinner to present John with his crown for being State King. He gained the title by losing the most weight and reaching his goal before the end of December. Marcia also graduated John to KOPS, keep pounds off sensibly. She also presented him with a plaque for being a state division winner.

Jonalu Mackey officiated in the installation of new officers for 2009. These were: leader - Beulah Birdsong, co-leaders - Cindy Wood and Barbara Spradlin, secretary - Phyllis Hash, treasurer- Jonalu Mackey, weight recorder - Romalie Thiem, assistant weight records - Deana Dewey and MaryLu Sealock.

The outgoing officers were given a charm for their charm bracelets by leader Beulah Birdsong.

KOPS members were also presented a charm. The successful members are MaryLu Sealock, Romalie Thiem, Marsha Hamm, Sylvia Flowers, Marjorie Adams, Marian Wade and John Teague.

TOPs is a non-profit organization designed as a support group to help each other lose and maintain their weight and promoter healthy living. TOPs AR 402 meets each Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene. Private weigh-ins beginning at 5:45 p.m. and the meeting is at 7 p.m.
