An arrest has been made in a case of financial identity fraud.

Jazmin Garrett, 21, of Menifee, confessed to Conway Police at about noon Wednesday at a local hardware store for obtaining and using the financial information of others. Chris Mitchell, a detective for Conway Police Department was the arresting officer in the case.

"We had three victims today," Mitchell said, in relation to this case. "And (Garrett) confessed to all of them."

One of the alleged victims in this case, Denny Brewer of Conway is looking to get his financial life straightened out.

According to the report filed with Conway Police Department, Brewer discovered that someone had used his credit card to make three purchases from an online vacation company for $369 each.

After discovering his balance was over the limit, Brewer filed paperwork claiming the charges were fraudulent with his credit card company and then contacted the Arkansas Attorney General's Office and CPD in regards to the incident. After filing reports, the purchases were traced back to Garrett, according to Mitchell.

"The only other step I need to take is to ensure that my credit report hasn't been compromised," Brewer said. "Now that they've found someone and made an arrest, it's a good time to go and check that to make sure nothing has happened."

Brewer said that the charges made on his account were credited back to him. But he's still healing from the "wear and tear on his nerves."

"I am glad that the process worked through," he said.

Garrett is being held at the Faulkner County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
