Conway Police Department received at least 11 theft of motor fuel complaints in May.

Lt. Danny Moody said that he hasn't seen an abnormally high number of theft of motor oil complaints, and he couldn't draw a correlation between people stealing gas and the rise of gas prices.

Smaller communities like Greenbrier saw only two gas drive-offs incidents in the amount of $23.18 and $7 at the Conoco station in May. Vilonia and Mayflower had no reports of gas drive-offs.

Lt. Moody said that those caught stealing gas could be charged with a Class A Misdemeanor, which is punishable with an up to $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail.
