Conway golfers set for match play

BRYANT A pair of Conway residents fired top-10 finishes Wednesday in the qualifying rounds of the Arkansas State Golf Association (ASGA) Senior Match Play at the Hurricane Golf and Country Club in Bryant.

Paul Jensen shot 77-71 148 over the first two rounds to head into today's play in fourth place. Carter Rickman is tied for ninth after shooting 72-80 152.

Jensen will be paired with Mike Hart of Little Rock at 9:24 a.m. today in his first match, and should he prevail, he'll take on the winner in the Roger Clement (Little Rock) and Marc Richardson (Fayetteville) at 1 p.m.

Rickman will face Glen Talbert of Sheridan at 9:56 a.m. If he wins, he'll take on the winner between John Mayes (Little Rock) and former University of Central Arkansas president Lu Hardin (Little Rock) at 1:30 p.m.

Oscar Taylor earned medalist honors in the senior bracket with 68-71 for a five-under par total of 139, which places him in the opposite bracket as the defending champion Stan Lee. Ralph Williams (76-78) and Chuck Veregge (77-77) tied for medalist honors in the super-senior bracket.
