T.B. Hairston

T.B. Hairston, 85, of Vilonia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday.

He was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Springfield to the late Fred and Myrtle McClaren Hairston.

 

T.B. was pastor of Enola Baptist Church for 10 years. He was Faulkner County Tax Assessor for 18 years and served on the Faulkner County Tax Equalization Board.

He was a member of the Nimrod Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Viola Turner Hairston; a son, Larry Hairston; three brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Collins Dunn Hairston; a son, Mike (Mary) Hairston of Greenbrier; two sisters, Freeda Hoggett of Matthews, Mo., and Iva Lee Bliss of Donovan, Mo.; six grandchildren, Rhonda (Marty) Nolan of Conway, Tammy Hairston of Greenbrier, Christy (Jacob) Erbach of Conway, Jennifer Hairston of Greenbrier, Tracy (Kelsey) Groff of Little Rock and Benjamin (Maggie) Hairston of Conway; three great-grandchildren, Laci Lawrence, Chloe Wells and Cody Nolan; three stepchildren, Donna (Brad) Mason of Pineville, La., Debbie (Scott) Tarvin of Little Rock and Eric (Haley) Dunn of Maumelle; and eight stepgrandchildren.

Papa Hairston was known in many ways: a jokester, a trickster, a worker and a teacher. But most of all he was known to everyone he met as a friend and amazing person. That was our papaw. We will love you and miss you always.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway, Dr. Larry Pillow and Rev. Ron Theis officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ben Hairston, Howard Hairston, Ronnie Barnett, Eric Dunn, Dave Morgan and Stanley Woodard. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Hairston and C.H. Turner.
