Locations, times announced for 'Idol' watch parties

The Kris Allen Kick Awesome Task Force has announced the locations of the "American Idol" watch and vote party Tuesday and results show watch party on Wednesday.

Tuesday's event will be at Estes Stadium at the University of Central Arkansas from 6 p.m. to midnight. Those attending will sit on the home (west) side of the stadium and watch the show on the scoreboard on the south end of the stadium. The show is from 7 to 8 p.m., and the voting period has been extended to midnight.

Kris Allen T-shirts will be sold, if they are still available. Aramark will have the concession stand open on the home side.

During the voting period after the show, Chick-Fil-A will give free food coupons to those who stay to vote. Also, a prize drawing will be held, and those who participate in the voting will be eligible for the drawings. Prizes will include a high-definition TV courtesy of Conway Corp. and two gift certificates for a spa treatment courtesy of Cosmetic Laser Solutions. Those attending are encouraged to bring their cellular phone chargers, according to information from the task force.

Wednesday's event will be at Simon Park in downtown Conway. The site was chosen by Fox, which will shoot live segments of the crowd to be aired during the two-hour live finale event. The finale will air on Fox from 7 to 9 p.m.

Kathy Wyrick of the Kris Allen Task force said live segments will also be shown during the show of fans gathered in San Diego, hometown of Adam Lambert, the other finalist on "American Idol."

"This is a tremendous opportunity for our city to not only receive national coverage but to show Kris on his final night how much support he has here," she said.
