The Conway Dinner Theater is proud to announce its opening show for the 2008 season. Two one acts, "The Telephone" and "The Servant of Padrona", will be performed June 8 and 12 and The Old Gin.
"The Telephone" by Menotti is a two man show featuring the talents of Amanda Woodard-Boyd as Lucy and David Allison as Ben. Lucy is a young woman with a "slight" preoccupation with telephones. Ben, her suitor, is trying to deepen their relationship while in competition with all of Lucy's phone conversations. Desperation leads to many funny situations as the young man vies for her attention.
The second one-act, "The Servant of Padrona" by Pergolesi, stars Ron McDaniel as Doctor Pandolfo, Gennie Kimbrough as Zerbina, and Robert Rubow as Scapin. Zerbina is the housemaid to Doctor Pandolfo, but she has another position in mind - mistress of the house. Scheming and hilarity break out as she weaves her web to snare the Doctor. Of course, the mute butler Scapin, isa reluctant accomplice as she devises her trap. This truly is screwball comedy set to music.
Dinner is catered by Oak Street Bistro. This show's menu is Spinach and Grilled Chicken Manicotti with Marinara and Basil Cream Sauce, Mixed Field Greens with Balsalmic Vinagrette, and Basil French Bread. Dessert is Chocolate Mousse.
Tickets are $30 and are on sale now through Tuesday, June 10. Tickets may be purchased at shop.conwaydinnertheater.com, by phone at 339-7401 or at Oak Street Bistro. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the shows will start at 7:30 p.m.
