High School Rodeo Queen visits with local students

The 2009 High School Rodeo Queen of Arkansas, Katie Barger of Quitman, recently visited the Faulkner County elementary schools passing out rodeo tickets to the children, age 12 and under, to attend the upcoming Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association rodeo which will be held at the Don Owen Sports Complex May 22 and 23.

Barger, 18, is the daughter of Kenneth and Christie Barger of Quitman. She is a 2009 graduate of South Side High School where she was valedictorian. She was recently crowned Miss South Side at the school's 50th anniversary celebration and currently competes in the barrel race and goat tying events at the Arkansas High School Rodeos.

The Arkansas High School Rodeo will take place May 16 and 17 at the Don Owen Sports Complex.

Tickets for the PRCA Rodeo are $10 for adults and $5 for children 7 to 12. Children 6 and under are free and will be held May 23-23.

Admission gates will open at 5 p.m. with the performances starting at 7:30 p.m. each night, rain or shine.
