An event is coming up in Conway that offers an unconventional and a sweet approach for politicians. Voters, chocolate pie, strawberry cake and all sorts of desserts will be involved on Thursday night at the Political Pie Auction. The politician with the highest bid gets 90 seconds per dessert to address the audience with his views. The event will be a fun and inexpensive way to reach the public with your message in the relaxed environment of Bob's Grill on Oak Street in downtown Conway. The Pie Auction benefits one of Conway's favorite charities, Bethlehem House, and its work with the homeless.
The auctioneer for the evening will be Richard Henley. Many local politicians have already said they will be in attendance that night. Those who have committed to come include: Preston Scroggin, Gilbert Baker, David Hogue, Ed Clawson, Jane English, Paul Niehaus, Joe White, Val Yagos, Terry Fiddler, Linda Tyler, Eddie Hawkins, Regina Oakley, Johnny Brady, John Petruccelli, Rebekah Kennedy and Mike Maggio.
The invitation to attend and participate is still open to any candidate who wishes to attend the Pie Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday May 15 at Bob's Grill. If you need additional details, contact Bethlehem House at 329-4862 or email the Shelter at bhouse@conwaycorp.net. The public is encouraged to attend and bid on homemade desserts as well. Bob's Grill is providing endless cups of coffee and glasses of iced tea. Admission is free. All proceeds benefit Bethlehem House, the local Christian Transitional Shelter serving previously homeless men, women and families.
