NATCHITOCHES, La The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track and field teams combined for six top 3 finishes at the Northwestern State Invitational on Saturday.
UCA competed against the host NSU, Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M.
For the women, senior Lori Garside won another high jump competition at 5-7. The 4x100 relay team of Julian Jenkins, Knequila Pemberton, Shantell Moore and Mary Douglas broke the school record with a time of 48.65, finishing sixth. Pemberton also finished sixth in the 100 in 12.25. Rene Hooper took fifth in the 1,500 meters in 5:09.87.
Roderick Jamerson finished second in the men's 200 in 22.67. Danny McBride also placed second in in the 5,000 in 15:55.88. Bobby Washington was third in the high jump at 6-4.75. Demarcus Harrison was third in the 400 in 55.69 seconds.
The 4x400 meter relay tandem of Kylon Boyd, Nick Miller, Courtney Houff and Sage Raphael placed fourth in 3:20.16. Matthew Mason was fourth in the 800 in 1:56.12 and Jaron Criswell was fifth in the long jump at 21-11.75. Sohji Izumi was sixth in the javelin at 185-3.
Saturday's meet was the final competition before the Southland Conference Championships in Nacogdoches, Texas, beginning May 8.
