University of Central Arkansas honor student and senior Amanda Houk, 22, will go to graduate school in the fall, in part because she's not sure what she wants to do with the knowledge she has gained.
She will receive a bachelor's in mass communication and hopes to get a master's at Oklahoma State University, where she's been accepted. However, she's been checking out other schools, too.
"I'm not 100 percent definite where I want to go with it (the degree)," she said. She likes the learning environment and she likes to write, therefore she might teach or write.
"I decided to put that decision off a little longer," she said, "until I really find out what I want to do."
Graduate school will give her the opportunity to research and analyze topics completely. She is looking forward to advanced class discussions and the development of ideas and issues. She wants to participate in a teacher assistantship.
She plans to live on campus for at least the first semester because she doesn't want to be forced to work.
"I don't think college students should have a job," she said. "It's hard to balance everything."
