Joey Young

University of Central Arkansas senior Joey Young seeks to make a difference in the world as a teacher in special education.

"I will make my mark in the world through the children," he said.

He will graduate with a bachelor's in special education in December and will continue with graduate school. Young has thought about staying at UCA for his graduate degree, but has considered Texas colleges, too.

Young, 26, plans to teach special children for a few years to make an individual difference in their lives, but keeps his goal on a more expanded aspect of the job. He wants to be a part of the administration that creates the rules and regulations for the kids' education.

"Some schools treat learning disabilities the wrong way," he said. "In administration, I would work on that."

He said the most fulfilling career he could have would be making children's lives better. He foresees schools increasing technology to include more computers and the Internet. He would like to see a greater emphasis placed on math and science studies.
