Little Rock Zoo welcomes new 20-foot python

Published Wednesday, April 02, 2008

LITTLE ROCK (AP) It took four people to escort the newest resident at the Little Rock Zoo to her home.

The zoo is welcoming a 20-foot reticulated python, believed to be the largest snake in Arkansas.

The python, which has not yet been named, came to the zoo Friday.

Randel Berry, the zoo's reptile keeper, says the snake is a non-venomous python species found in southeast Asia.

Berry said the snake is the largest one in capitivity in the state, as well as the largest snake ever at the Little Rock Zoo.
