Conway Civic League
The Conway Civic League met at the Conway Country Club on March 19 for its monthly for its monthly luncheon meeting. An entertaining review of the book by Nora Ephron entitled "I Feel Bad About My Neck" was presented by Marion Baker.
The author points out way women try to alter aging effects on their bodies, with the "neck being a dead give away." Scarves and turtle necks may be a short term solution.
Maintenance of the body is first tried. After a certain time it's "patch, patch, patch" - a face lift, liposuction, etc. Hair maintenance is overwhelming beginning with the choice of shampoo. There's shampoo for dry hair only, for coarse hair, damaged hair and volumizing for thin hair.
Then, there's an expensive bath oil for $20 to last for two weeks. It really doesn't last that long id you use enough in each daily bath to do what it is supposed to do for your skin. "So what's to be done?" "Life Goes On."
The author, Nora Ephron, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for When Harry Met Sally. She also directed Silkwood and Sleepless in Seattle.
President Marion Baker then called the meeting to order. The minutes of the meeting were read and approved by the recording secretary. Roseanne Johnson.
A change in the constitution allowing an additional number of members was approved. Five new members were accepted for membership and will be invited to attend the next meeting on April 16. Hostesses for the March 19 meeting were: Pat Ott, chair, Betty Frazer, Kathy Linn, Carol Teague and Eve Torian.
