April 1-7 is National Library Week, a time to discover what's "@ your library" and celebrate all that the libraries have to offer.
"The library has always been, and will continue to be, a one-stop shop for all your information needs," said Jo-Lynn James, children's librarian at the Faulkner County Library. "Whether you're checking out the latest bestseller, browsing your favorite Web site or attending a performance, the library has the resources and staff to help you find what you are looking for."
This year, the Faulkner County Library will host a "Connect for Kids Day" on Saturday, March 31, to kick off National Library Week. The day will highlight the variety of resources available to kids and their families at the library and their community.
The day's activities will include facepainting, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; proclamation of National Library Week, 10:45 a.m.; storytelling; and dancing.
Many displays will also be set up showcasing various programs available for kids in the community, including Hollender's Taekwondo, Faulkner Girl Scouts, Friends of the Library, Faulkner County Literacy Council, Darin Wood's Martial Arts Academy, Ashley's Dance Studio, University of Central Arkansas Community School of Music, Salvation Army, Sonshine Academy and Miss Toby's School of Dance and Horseback Riding Academy.
"National Library Week is a great time to see what's new at your local library and to get a library card if you don't have one," added Ms. James.
"We encourage everyone in the community to come check us out."
