National Symphony Orchestra trio to perform March 27

Published Thursday, March 12, 2009

The public is invited to a night of extraordinary music, fabulous food and fun with friends as the Conway Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors and the new Conway Symphony Orchestra Guild welcome a trio from the National Symphony Orchestra at 6 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the Hulen Ballroom at Hendrix College in Conway.

The Preview Party includes the chamber concert, cocktails and dinner for $50 per person. A limited number of tickets are available until March 20 by contacting the CSO office at 269-1066 or symphony@conwaycorp.net. Sponsored tables are also available for $500 for a table of 8, and include several recognition opportunities, and a reserved table for your guests.

In partnership with Orchestras Feeding America, attendees will be asked to bring non-perishable items for local food banks, including St. Peter's Episcopal Church, First United Methodist Church, Bethlehem House, Central Baptist Church, and Soul Food Caf. A food drive will also be held at the March 28 performance of the National Symphony Orchestra at UCA. The Conway Symphony Orchestra and UCA are proud to be local organizers of this national program, which includes more than 160 orchestras in 45 states, and is being held in conjunction with the movie release of "The Soloist." Performers for the Preview Party will be National Symphony Orchestra musicians Aaron Goldman, assistant principal flutist; Abigail Evans, assistant principal viola; and Jeffrey Weisner, bass. Goldman was principal flutist of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra before joining NSO. Formerly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Evans attended the Cleveland Institute of Music. Weisner is active in venues around the country as a performer and teacher and was trained at Boston University and the Peabody Conservatory.

Now in its 24th season, the Conway Symphony Orchestra exists to create meaningful experiences through performances and education. The CSO roster is composed of both professional and pre-professional musicians performing a six-concert season, plus classroom educational programs. Through the support of corporate and individual donors, the CSO keeps tickets affordable, making the enjoyment of classical and popular music available to the entire community.
