We were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Theda Wooley Anhalt of North Little Rock who passed away on Feb. 18. Mrs. Anhalt grew up in this community, and her ancestors were among its early settlers. Both the Woolly Cemetery and Woolly Hollow State Park bear the name of her family, and she, along with her parents and siblings, were integral parts of Centerville United Methodist Church. That church still has on display an honor roll of its World War II participants, and (lest we forget) two of Mrs. Anhalt's brothers lost their lives during that conflict. Mrs. Anhalt is survived by her daughter, Ann McElmurry of North Little Rock, and three grandchildren.
I would like to note, for those of you who don't already know, that some members of the Wooley/Woolly family changed the spelling of the family's surname a long time ago. This was, of course, a very common practice as many families can attest.
Please remember in your prayers Donna Rountree and Alton Shumate, who have both been ill. Also, please be in prayer for the families of Ed Gartner and Bill Trublood who recently passed away. Ed Gartner was the uncle of Rick Gartner, the husband of our pastor at Centerville United Methodist Church, Lana Gartner. Bill Trublood was the husband of Helen Trublood of Sherwood, and the son-in-law of Winfred and Clestine Goodwin, both of whom grew up in Centerville. Our sympathies go out to all of these family members.
