Jeff Stephens has announced he will seek an eighth term in the position of Faulkner County Assessor in the upcoming election in the May Democratic preferential primary election.
Stephens was first elected to this position in 1993. He is also a member of the Arkansas Assessors' Association and has served on its board for ten years.
He has also served on the Association of Arkansas Counties' board of directors and the Commission of State Lands' advisory board.
Before becoming the assessor for the county, Stephens was a residential and commercial appraiser for Faulkner and Pulaski counties.
He has been in the assessment field since 1985 and has been qualified as a level four senior appraiser by the state of Arkansas since 1987.
"I will strive to keep the Faulkner County Assessor's office operating in a professional and friendly manner," Stephens said. "I will always be open to public input and questions."
"I will continue to upgrade the assessor's office when and where necessary to keep up with the changes in the growth of Faulkner County and the laws of the State of Arkansas and to accomplish these upgrades in the most effective and affordable way possible."
Stephens is the son of Mae Stephens and the late L.P. Stephens, and a lifelong resident of Faulkner County. He is also the husband of Anita Irby Stephens and the father of Benjamin, 17, and Matthew, 11.
The preferential primary election will be May 23, and the general election will be Nov. 14.
