Steve Simon, Democrat, has announced he will seek a third term as Faulkner County tax collector.
Prior to being elected tax collector, Simon served as state representative from 1995 to 2000.
If elected, he plans "to continue to operate the collector's office in a fair, respectful and efficient manner. Even with all the growth we have, we should be able to meet the demands of our office without additional employees.
"Faulkner County has many excellent people taking care of the every day needs of the county.
"I am proud to work for you and thank you for the opportunity you, the people, have given me," he said.
Simon serves on the boards of the Faulkner County Farm Bureau, Associated Farmers Co-op and Vilonia Waterworks Association and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Simon, son of Mary Lou Simon and the late Fritz Simon, is a Catholic and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He was a dairy farmer from 1976 to 1996 and served in the National Guard 1970-76.
He and his wife, Charlotte, have three children and one grandchild.
