The University of Central Arkansas will send two more players to the 2009 NFL Combine next month in Indianapolis, Ind., after quarterback Nathan Brown and tight end Marquez Branson received invitations this week.
Brown and Branson are the third and fourth Bears to be invited to the Combine in the past three seasons, joining wide receiver Aaron Fairooz and defensive end Jacob Ford, both in 2007.
Brown was the Southland Conference Player of the Year after leading the Bears to a 10-2 overall record and a first-place finish in the SLC at 6-1. He became the first quarterback in Arkansas collegiate history to pass for more than 10,000 yards (10,558) and 100 touchdowns.
Branson was UCA's second-leading receiver this season with 45 catches for 737 yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns. He was a first-team All-SLC selection.
The NFL Combine, held at Lucas Oil Stadium from Feb. 18-24, is used by the league to evaluate the upcoming draft class. The prospective players are put through a series of drills, tests and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel including head coaches, general managers and scouts.
