Lt. Col. Floyd G. Seay

Lt. Col. Floyd G. Seay passed away Jan. 5, 2009; nine days shy of his 92nd birthday. Col. Seay was born in Conway on Jan. 14, 1917 to James Anderson and Dessie Odell Seay.

 

Col. Seay had a distinguished military career that spanned more than 25 years. He served at the U.S. Army Station Hospital as a hospital administrator in Corregidor, Philippines from 1936-39. In addition, he had numerous other assignments including serving overseas in Saudi Arabia and Alaska prior to statehood. Upon retirement from the military, Col. Seay worked for 15 years at the Reynolds Army Hospital in Lawton, Okla., and served five years as an administrator of the Veteran's Home in Little Rock. At the age of 70, he accepted a position with the State Department in Zamboanga, Philippines as a hospital advisor and then served in a similar capacity in Jordon.

Col. Seay is survived by his wife Edith; and sons, Joseph of Norman, Okla., James of San Antonio, Texas, Morris of The Colony, Texas, Mark of Fort Worth, Texas, and Phil of Midlothian, Texas, and stepchildren, Betty Myrick of Springdale and Rex Stephen of Cache, Okla. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Wilma Seay and his eldest son Wayne, of Arkansas.

Col. Seay was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was an active member of Cavalry Baptist Church of Edmond, Okla.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday under the direction of Ireland Funeral Home of Moore, Okla., with interment at Fort Sill Memorial Cemetery in Fort Sill, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, of Edmond, Heartland Hospice of Norman and Disabled Americans Veterans.
