CBC golfers qualify for NCCAA tourney

The Central Baptist College men’s golf team has been selected as one of 12 teams to compete for the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship at the Hammock Beach Resort Conservatory Course in Palm Coast, Fla., from Oct. 23-25.

The Mustangs finished second in the NCCAA Central Regional.

Scoring average was the determining factor for the at-large selection and it helps that CBC hasn’t finished lower then sixth in any tournament, including a pair of second-place finishes. Individually, Colton Ryan has posted a pair of top-five finishes this season, including a win in the regional and Dylan Smith was fourth in the Freed-Hardeman Invitational.

It will be CBC’s 12th appearance, and seventh in a row, in the championship. The Mustangs finished 10th last year and third in 2015.

The other teams participating will be Bob Jones University, Campbellsville University, Colorado Christian University, Dallas Baptist University, Indiana Wesleyan University, McMurry University, Oakland City University, Ottawa University-Arizona, Southern Wesleyan University, Southwestern Christian University and the University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
