St. Joseph’s basketball teams split two games Saturday against Western Grove at the St. Joseph Family Activity Center.
The senior boys jumped to a 25-11 lead on the way to a 87-58 victory.
Drake Cooper led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Andrew Beck added 18 and Cole Schichtl 16. Drew Bates had eight points while Dylan Schrekenhofer added six. William Field had five points. Schichtl added eight rebounds and Cooper five. Landon Enderlin added four assists. Frank Beck and Taylor Schrekenhofer each had three assists and Nash Nichols had three steals.
“We played a good all-around game,” said coach Brent Bruich. “Our bench played outstanding; they gave us a great effort and made a lot of outstanding plays. We still have a lot of growth and room to improve.”
Western Grove won the senior girls game, 34-25.
Abbey Kordsmeier had eight points. Caroline Dail had five points and four rebounds. Anna Mayor and Taylor Welch each had four points.
“We had a tough night shooting the ball and we need to do a better job handling the ball as well,” said coach Chris Kordsmeier. “It’s early and we will keep working to get better.” said St. Joseph coach Chris Kordsmeier.
