Panthers romp past Beebe, 48-29

Greenbrier scores six straight two-point conversions

LITTLE ROCK — Carson Matthews scored three touchdowns. two Greenbrier quarterbacks engineered touchdown drives and the Panthers added possibly a world record six straight two-point conversions Tuesday on the way to a 48-29 victory over Beebe in the First Security Kickoff Classic at War Memorial Stadium.

 

Matthews, a senior runnning back, scored on runs of 8, 14 and 6 yards. He was voted the Most Valuable Player.

Carter Burcham, the third Greenbrier quarterback, passed for six two-point conversions out of the swinging gate.

"We put in something a little special, got it going and I didn't want to stop it," said Greenbrier coach Randy Tribble.

Will Drewry passed 14 yards to Ethan Edwards for one Panther touchdown. Harold Ross connected with Austin Porter for a 59-yard TD and to Michael Spainhour for another.

The Panthers led 24-0 at the half.
