High school roundup: Conway baseball and softball both have success in tournaments

Conway’s baseball team ran its winning streak to seven games with three victories this weekend in a tournament at Mountain Home.

Friday night, the Cats (6-4) defeated Mountain Home, 8-5, then came back Saturday to down the Bombers, 4-2. Later Saturday, Conway defeated West Plains, Mo., 7-1.

Conway had nine hits against West Plains,. Collin Condit had two and Jacob Adams added two RBIs. Mitchell Jones struck out five in taking the win.

The Cats made the best use of three hits in the 4-2 victory over Mountain Home. Bubba Carter was the winning pitcher as the Bombers had four hits. Grayson Pinkett had an RBI for Conway.

In Friday’s 8-5 victory, Cade Tucker had four hits and Harold Gould, two. Evan Wilson added three RBIs. Matt Strickland picked up the win on the mound with Connor Williams getting the save.

CONWAY SOFTBALL

FARMINGTON — The Conway softball team went 2-1 in its first three games this weekend in the Farmington tournament.

The Lady Cats defeated Fort Smith Southside, 6-4, and Farmington, 11-2. They lost to Mena, 7-0.
