Bates resigns as Conway boys basketball coach

Conway Wampus Cat boys basketball coach James Bates has submitted his resignation that will go into effect at the end of the school year, according to Dr. Greg Murry, superintendent of Conway Public Schools.

Bates led the Wampus Cats to a 7A state championship in 2010, two conference championships and had an overall record of 249-135.

Murry said the district will immediately begin the search for his replacement.
