Northside boys withstand Conway flurry

Fort Smith Northside (12-6, 7-2) withstood a frantic Conway flurry in the final 10 seconds Friday to take a 59-57 victory over the Wampus Cats in boys basketball at Buzz Bolding Arena.

The Cats (11-8, 3-6) missed a layup, three putback attempts, the front end of two 1 and 1s and a 3-pointer in the final 10 seconds after the Grizzlies failed to put the game away by hitting only one of four free throws with 46.5 seconds left.

A.J. Burton, who had five 3-pointers including one from just inside the halfcourt line at the halftime buzzer, led Conway with 23 points.
