LANDON HOOD (5-10, 212)
How do you feel about the Conway defense this season?
Hood: “We have a lot of returning starters everywhere on the field plus a lot of players who got a lot of playing time. We have strength and speed in the d-line and some three-year starters in the secondary. I’m excited about the season.”
What’s the key?
Hood: “Staying focused every week and every play. Practice like it’s your last time on the field.”
How have you gotten better?
Hood: “I’ve gotten a lot stronger. I think I’m better able to handle every situation, from first to fourth down.”
What about the season?
Hood: “The past few years we’ve gotten to the second round of the playoffs but were not good enough to go farther. To me, anything short of the state championship game is a failure.”
DANNY THOMAS (5-11, 237)
How do you view the offense?
Thomas: “I think we are going to be pretty good. We have some good offensive linemen. Our front five is pretty good.”
What can you do that you couldn’t do last year?
Thomas: “I think we will be able to run the ball more and that should help the passing game. We’ve worked hard on our running game.”
What about your new quarterback, Breylin Smith?
Thomas: “He’s shown us he can be pretty good. He has a good arm and can throw the ball but he can also run around and make plays.”
